James A. McLoughlin Jr.

James A. McLoughlin Jr., 92, of Jamestown, died peacefully at his home on Nov. 2, 2015. He was the beloved husband of Thelma L. (Hird) McLoughlin for 65 years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late James A. and Bertha H. (Shook) McLoughlin.

He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II and Korea.

McLoughlin was an auto parts manager retiring from Paul Bailey’s in 1988. He later worked for the town of Jamestown. He was a member of the American Legion Arnold Zweir Post 22 and the Jamestown VFW.

He was a volunteer for Jamestown EMS and Meals on Wheels. McLoughlin was passionate about blood donation, coordinating blood drives for Jamestown EMS and veterans organizations. He was also a blood donor, donating over 400 times. A parishioner of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, he served as an usher.

In addition to his wife, he leaves a son, James A. McLoughlin and his wife Tina of Jamestown; a sister, Frances Casey of Naples, Fla.; and two grandsons, Matthew T. and Luke A. McLoughlin. He was the brother of the late John McLoughlin.

A burial office will be held Thursday, Nov. 5, at 11 a.m. in St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 87 Narragansett Ave., Jamestown. Burial with military honors will follow in R.I. Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter.
