Movies, wreath making upcoming for senior citizens

Next week’s film for senior citizens in the Tuesday matinee series is “Woman in Gold,” a story about Maria Altmann, portrayed by Helen Mirren, who tries to reclaim her family possessions 60 years after fleeing Vienna. Among the items taken by the Nazis is a famous portrait of Maria’s beloved aunt, Gustave Klimt’s “Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer.” The drama is rated PG-13 and runs 109 minutes.

Weekly screenings, which include classics, musicals and documentaries, are at 1:30 p.m. each Tuesday in the library’s large meeting room. Seniors are invited to bring movies, snacks and refreshments. Transportation is available by calling Ellen Vietri at 423-2761.

Also for seniors, registration is open for a workshop on wreath making that will take place at the senior center from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 29. Wreaths will be made using fresh greens, pinecones and bows. The joint workshop for seniors and Lawn School sixth-graders is co-sponsored by the Quononoquott Garden Club. Call Vietri to register.
